Swedish automaker Volvo has announced today the launch of a new single-motor variant of the Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV.

Priced at Rs 54.95 lakh (ex-showroom), the new single-motor variant is positioned Rs 2.95 lakh below the dual-motor Ultimate variant. Prospective buyers can make bookings for the EV exclusively through Volvo’s online portal. Deliveries are anticipated to commence shortly.

The new Volvo XC40 Single will be introduced to the Indian market through the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route and will undergo local assembly at the brand’s facility in Hosakote, Karnataka.

The new XC40 Recharge Single will be equipped with a 69kWh battery pack, coupled with a single electric motor producing 238bhp of power and 420 Nm of torque.

According to ICAT, the EV boasts a range of 592 kilometers. Volvo asserts that the EV SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 7.3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 180 kph.

In comparison, the dual-motor version of the XC40 Recharge is equipped with a larger 79 kWh battery pack, paired with dual electric motors that deliver a combined output of 402 bhp of power and 660 Nm of torque. Volvo claimed it can accelerate from 0-100 kph in just 4.9 seconds.

In terms of features, the EV is equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay support, along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Additionally, it boasts a 250 W 8-speaker sound system, wireless phone charging, an air purifier, a powered tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and more.

Speaking of safety features, it includes seven airbags, a rear parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, a tire pressure monitoring system, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, and more. 

Volvo is also offering an 8-year battery warranty, a 3-year comprehensive car warranty, a 3-year service package, a 3-year roadside assistance, and a 5-year subscription to digital services.
