Xiaomi is preparing to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with the introduction of the all-new YU7 electric SUV. Following the success of the SU7 electric sedan, the Chinese technology giant is now targeting the rapidly growing electric SUV segment with a model that promises impressive performance, advanced technology, and premium design.

The Xiaomi YU7 has already generated significant attention among EV enthusiasts thanks to its powerful dual-motor setup and substantial dimensions. Expected to go on sale in June or July 2025, the YU7 will become Xiaomi’s second production electric vehicle and an important part of the company’s long-term automotive strategy.

The Xiaomi YU7 is an all-electric SUV that measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height. The vehicle rides on a generous 3,000 mm wheelbase, which is expected to translate into a spacious and comfortable cabin for passengers.

While Xiaomi has not yet revealed the complete interior specifications, the large dimensions suggest that the YU7 will compete in the premium electric SUV segment.

One of the most notable aspects of the YU7 is its performance-focused powertrain. The electric SUV is equipped with two electric motors, featuring a 220 kW motor at the front and a more powerful 288 kW motor at the rear. Together, these motors generate a combined output of 508 kW, which translates to approximately 681 horsepower.

This substantial power output places the YU7 among the more powerful electric SUVs in its category. Xiaomi claims the SUV can achieve a top speed of 253 km/h, highlighting the company’s ambition to combine practicality with high-performance driving characteristics.

Energy for the dual-motor system will be supplied by a lithium nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack sourced from CATL, one of the world’s leading battery manufacturers. However, Xiaomi has not yet disclosed the battery’s capacity, charging specifications, or expected driving range. These details are likely to be revealed closer to the vehicle’s official launch.

Building on the Success of the Xiaomi SU7

The YU7 arrives at a time when Xiaomi’s automotive business is experiencing strong momentum. Earlier this year, the company launched the SU7, its first-ever electric vehicle, which marked Xiaomi’s official entry into the automotive industry.

The SU7 quickly gained popularity in China, with deliveries surpassing 100,000 units by mid-November. Starting at 215,900 yuan (approximately $29,700), the electric sedan has exceeded expectations and helped establish Xiaomi as a serious competitor in the EV market.

Encouraged by the strong demand, Xiaomi has revised its delivery targets upward. The company now aims to deliver 130,000 vehicles by the end of the year, surpassing its original goal of 100,000 units. This success has created a strong foundation for the upcoming YU7 SUV.

Launch Timeline

According to available information, the Xiaomi YU7 is expected to officially go on sale in June or July 2025. The SUV is anticipated to play a key role in Xiaomi’s plans to expand its presence in the electric vehicle sector and attract customers looking for a premium electric SUV with strong performance credentials.

With its powerful 681 hp dual-motor setup, large dimensions, and advanced battery technology, the Xiaomi YU7 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated electric SUV launches from the brand. More details regarding pricing, driving range, interior features, and technology are expected to emerge as the launch date approaches.
