Hyundai has officially unveiled the Ioniq 5 XRT, a more rugged and adventure-focused version of its popular electric crossover. Designed for buyers seeking light off-road capability without sacrificing the benefits of an electric vehicle, the Ioniq 5 XRT receives several visual and mechanical upgrades that set it apart from the standard model.
The new XRT joins the growing global Ioniq 5 lineup, which now includes the standard Ioniq 5, the high-performance Ioniq 5 N, and this new off-road-inspired variant. With increased ground clearance, all-terrain tyres, and unique styling elements, Hyundai aims to attract customers who enjoy exploring beyond paved roads.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT: Exterior Design
The Ioniq 5 XRT features a more aggressive and rugged appearance compared to the standard model. Hyundai has equipped the electric SUV with redesigned front and rear bumpers featuring distinctive “digital camouflage” cladding finished in contrasting dark tones. These elements give the vehicle a tougher and more adventurous look.
One of the most noticeable upgrades is the new set of 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tyres. These tyres are specifically designed to provide better grip on loose surfaces such as gravel, dirt, and light trails.
The XRT variant also receives exclusive badging and black-finished exterior mirrors that further differentiate it from other Ioniq 5 models. Hyundai offers the vehicle in two unique exterior paint finishes, helping it stand out even more within the lineup.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT: Off-Road Enhancements
The biggest changes lie underneath the vehicle. Hyundai has revised the suspension system and increased the ride height by 23mm compared to the standard Ioniq 5. This additional ground clearance improves the vehicle’s ability to tackle uneven terrain and rough roads.
Thanks to the suspension modifications, Hyundai claims the Ioniq 5 XRT now offers an approach angle of 19.8 degrees and a departure angle of 30 degrees. These figures represent improvements of 2.3 degrees and 4.6 degrees respectively over the regular model.
While the XRT is not intended to be a hardcore off-roader, these upgrades make it better suited for outdoor adventures, camping trips, and light trail driving.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT: Interior Updates
Inside the cabin, Hyundai has made a few subtle changes to reinforce the XRT’s unique identity. The SUV features revised seat upholstery materials that provide a more rugged feel while maintaining the premium quality associated with the Ioniq 5 range.
Another notable change is the introduction of a three-spoke steering wheel, replacing the two-spoke design found in the standard model. The rest of the cabin remains largely unchanged, continuing to offer the spacious and technology-rich environment that has made the Ioniq 5 popular globally.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT: Battery and Performance
Powering the Ioniq 5 XRT is an 84kWh battery pack paired with dual electric motors, one mounted on each axle. This setup provides all-wheel-drive capability, which is particularly useful when driving on slippery or uneven surfaces.
Although Hyundai has not officially confirmed the power output, it is expected to produce around 320 horsepower, similar to the dual-motor version of the standard Ioniq 5.
The combination of all-wheel drive, increased ride height, and all-terrain tyres gives the XRT a more versatile character while retaining the smooth and quiet driving experience associated with electric vehicles.
Expected India Launch
The updated Ioniq 5 facelift has already been revealed in international markets, and Hyundai is expected to introduce the refreshed model in India in the future. While there is no official confirmation regarding the launch of the XRT variant in India, the growing popularity of adventure-oriented SUVs could make it an attractive option for the market.
With its rugged styling, improved off-road capability, and proven electric powertrain, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT offers a fresh take on the electric SUV segment and expands the appeal of the Ioniq 5 lineup.
