The Heritage Series Grandeur retains the unmistakable boxy silhouette of the original 1986 Grandeur, preserving the elegant and distinctive proportions that made the sedan a symbol of luxury in its time. While the overall shape remains faithful to the original, Hyundai has incorporated several modern design updates to give the concept a contemporary appearance.

Among the most noticeable changes are the pixel-style LED headlights and taillights, a signature design element seen on Hyundai’s latest electric vehicles. The concept also features redesigned side mirrors, covered wheels, and updated side cladding that enhance both aerodynamics and visual appeal.

The combination of retro styling cues and futuristic details creates a unique look that bridges the gap between past and present. The vehicle successfully captures the essence of the original Grandeur while reflecting Hyundai’s modern design language.

Inside, the Heritage Series Grandeur embraces what Hyundai describes as a “Newtro” concept—a blend of new and retro design elements. The cabin features a luxurious combination of burgundy velvet and auburn Napa leather upholstery, creating a warm and sophisticated atmosphere.

Bronze-colored ambient lighting has been incorporated throughout the interior, inspired by vintage audio equipment from the 1980s. This lighting enhances the nostalgic feel while adding a premium touch to the cabin experience.

Several design elements pay homage to the original Grandeur. The single-spoke steering wheel remains a standout feature, while the jet airplane-style gear selector recalls the design aesthetics of the era. At the same time, Hyundai has introduced modern technology by replacing traditional dashboard controls with an ultra-wide touch-activated flat-screen display that spans much of the dashboard.

The result is an interior that feels both familiar and futuristic, blending classic luxury with advanced digital functionality.

Grandeur Heritage Series Concept: Tech

Technology plays a major role in the Heritage Series Grandeur. One of the highlights is its advanced four-way sound system, developed by renowned South Korean sound designer Guk-il Yu. The audio setup includes 18 speakers strategically positioned throughout the cabin to deliver rich, immersive sound with deep bass and exceptional clarity.

Adding to the uniqueness of the concept is a special piano function that becomes available when the vehicle is parked. This feature allows occupants to play piano sounds through the car’s sophisticated audio system, turning the cabin into a creative and entertaining space.

The integration of premium sound technology reflects Hyundai’s focus on enhancing the overall user experience beyond simple transportation.

Performance and Battery

Hyundai has confirmed that the original internal combustion engine has been replaced with a fully electric powertrain, transforming the classic sedan into a modern zero-emission vehicle. However, the company has not disclosed detailed specifications regarding battery capacity, driving range, charging capabilities, or performance figures.

As a result, the focus of the Heritage Series Grandeur remains on design innovation and technological experimentation rather than outright performance

Concept

The Heritage Series Grandeur is primarily a design study that explores how Hyundai’s historic models can be reimagined using future technologies. The concept demonstrates the company’s ability to blend heritage-inspired styling with contemporary electric vehicle innovations.

At present, Hyundai has no plans to put the Heritage Series Grandeur into mass production. Nevertheless, the concept serves as an exciting showcase of the brand’s creativity and vision, offering enthusiasts a fascinating look at how iconic automotive designs can be reinvented for the electric age.
