Kia Carnival

Kia has officially launched the fourth-generation Carnival in India at a starting price of ₹63.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The premium MPV returns to the Indian market with a completely new design, upgraded features, and enhanced comfort levels. At launch, the new Carnival is available exclusively in a fully loaded Limousine trim and is offered only in a seven-seater configuration. Powering the luxury people mover is a single diesel engine paired with an automatic transmission.

The latest-generation Carnival has already been on sale in international markets since late 2023 and was introduced for Indian customers after bookings opened on September 16 for a token amount of ₹2 lakh. Kia has positioned the new Carnival as a premium family vehicle that combines luxury, practicality, and advanced technology.

The new Carnival adopts a significantly bolder and more upright design compared to its predecessor. The MPV features a boxier silhouette, giving it a more commanding road presence. At the front, Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille is flanked by vertically stacked LED headlamps and distinctive L-shaped LED daytime running lights. The rear section continues the modern styling theme with L-shaped taillights connected by a full-width LED light bar.

The MPV rides on stylish 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels that further enhance its premium appeal. Kia is offering the new Carnival in two exterior paint options for the Indian market: Fusion Black and Glacier White Pearl.

Inside, the cabin has been designed to deliver a luxurious travel experience. Buyers can choose between two dual-tone interior themes: Navy and Misty Grey or Tuscan and Umber. The seating layout follows a 2+2+3 arrangement, with the second-row captain seats serving as the highlight of the interior. These seats feature leg support extensions, heating, ventilation, and multiple adjustment functions, ensuring exceptional comfort for passengers during long journeys.

The fully loaded Limousine variant comes equipped with a long list of premium features. The dashboard is dominated by two curved 12.3-inch displays that serve as the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. Other key highlights include a four-spoke steering wheel, dual electric sunroofs, three-zone climate control, wireless charging pads, an 11-inch head-up display, and a premium 12-speaker Bose sound system.

The driver’s seat features 12-way power adjustment, while the HVAC system combines physical controls with haptic touch interfaces for ease of use. The powered second-row captain seats remain one of the standout features, offering a near business-class travel experience. Additional convenience features include powered sliding rear doors and a powered tailgate.

Safety has also been given significant attention. The Carnival comes equipped with eight airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Assist Control, tyre pressure monitoring, rear disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, side parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.

The MPV also receives a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) package. This includes features such as Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Assist, Front Collision Warning, and Collision Avoidance Assist, among others.

The 2024 Kia Carnival: Powertrain

The new Carnival continues with a 2.2-litre diesel engine, similar to its predecessor. In this latest version, the engine produces 193 hp and 441 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain is paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, which sends power to the front wheels.

The diesel engine is tuned to provide a balance between performance, refinement, and fuel efficiency, making it well-suited for long-distance touring and daily driving alike.

Kia also offers three years of free maintenance, warranty, and roadside assistance with the new Carnival. Kia says it has already gathered 2,796 bookings for the all-new MPV.

2024 Kia Carnival: Price and Rivals

Priced at ₹63.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the fourth-generation Carnival is considerably more expensive than the previous model, primarily because it is currently being imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). However, Kia has indicated plans to assemble the MPV locally in the future, which could help reduce costs.

Once local assembly begins, the Carnival could become a more attractive alternative for buyers seeking a premium MPV. In the Indian market, it is expected to compete with high-end variants of the Toyota Innova Hycross while offering a significantly more luxurious and feature-rich experience.
