BYD eMax7

BYD India has revealed that the facelifted e6 MPV will be renamed the BYD eMax7 when it launches, with a price expected in early October.

The facelifted BYD e6 MPV is already available in areas like Indonesia, where it is marketed as the BYD M6 (debuted in July 2024). However, the firm decided to call it the eMax7 in India, most likely because another organization has a copyright to the M6 name.

Official teasers have confirmed that, like the BYD M6, the India-bound eMax7 will feature somewhat changed headlamp and taillamp designs, with more chrome accents at the front and back. The front and rear bumper designs have also been updated to keep things fresh.

The most significant change will be a larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, up from 10.1 inches in the current model. Otherwise, the dashboard remains largely unchanged. The center console has been modestly updated, with two wireless charging pads, new switchgear, and a new drive selector lever. It also receives a new steering wheel but keeps the analog dials for the instrument cluster.

BYD eMax7: Powertrain

In Indonesia, the e6 comes with two battery pack options: a 55.4kWh unit with a stated range of 420 km and a 71.8kWh one with a range of 530 km. It produces 163 horsepower with the smaller battery and 204 horsepower with the larger battery; torque is 310 Nm for both types. That significantly increases the old car’s 95hp and 180Nm outputs.

The BYD e6 is presently priced at Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom), with the revised model expected to cost a reasonable premium.
