Volkswagen unveiled the Trail Edition of its flagship Taigun SUV on November 2. This rugged version of the safe SUV comes with a starting price of ₹16.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as the top-tier variant based on the GT version, the Taigun Trail Edition is part of the GT Limited Collection. It brings several new features and enhancements compared to the standard Taigun.

Externally, the Taigun Trail Edition stands out with a chrome accent on the grille, a bold chrome accent on the lower grille, ‘trail’ inspired graphics on the sides, functional roof rails, a roof foil, black-colored door garnish, ORVMs with red accents, and puddle lamps on the ORVMs.

It also sports black-painted 16-inch alloy wheels and a ‘Trail’ badge at the rear, while retaining the distinct “infinity” taillights.

Inside, the cabin receives cosmetic upgrades including 3D floor mats, leatherette seat covers with Trail branding, and SS foot pedals.

Many features remain consistent with the Taigun 1.5 GT variant, such as the 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, ambient lighting, electric sunroof, multi-function steering wheel, reverse parking camera, ESC, TPMS, and active cylinder management technology (ACT).

The Taigun Trail Edition is powered by the same 1.5-liter TSI turbo petrol engine found in the Taigun 1.5 GT. It can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The engine delivers 148 bhp of power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Volkswagen is expected to introduce multiple traction modes for adventure enthusiasts.
