Skoda has officially announced that its first-ever compact SUV, the Skoda Kylaq, will be available in March 2025. The company had been running a contest to choose the name from a list of ten, and Kylaq received the most public votes.
Skoda Kylaq: what to expect?
The early teaser photographs and design concepts show a recognizable Skoda design language, including a split headlight configuration, a slatted grille design, and clean surfaces with a kinked glasshouse. The Kylaq will have a shorter wheelbase than the Kushaq, and spy images suggest that the front and rear overhangs will be reduced, allowing it to fit into the sub-4-metre class. Skoda also claims this will be the first vehicle to bring the brand’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language and standard SUV features to India.

Skoda previously stated that the Kylaq will be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine capable of producing 115hp and 178Nm of torque. The Kylaq will have only one engine option, whereas most competitors will have at least two. The 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions will also be carried over.
The Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, and other vehicles will be competitors of the Kylaq.
