Toyota Kirloskar Motor has released new versions of the Fortuner and Legender in India. These cars now have a new mild-hybrid system called Neo Drive. The goal of this 48-volt system is to improve fuel economy, power delivery, and the drive experience. With this addition, Toyota keeps making its famous SUVs ready for the future and gives Indian buyers of premium SUVs more technologically advanced choices.
Toyota Fortuner: Enhanced Diesel Engine with Hybrid Assist
The 2.8-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine is still in both SUVs, but they now have a 48-volt hybrid setup that makes them better. This has a lithium-ion battery and a starter motor built into the belt. Toyota says this setup improves low-end torque, makes driving in the city quieter, and improves total fuel economy, especially in situations where you have to stop and go a lot.
Toyota’s Take on the Growing SUV Demand
Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President of Sales, Service, and Used Car Business at Toyota, spoke about the launch and said that the new Neo Drive versions show how Indian SUV buyers’ needs are changing. He said that clients want bold designs and high-tech features and that Fortuner and Legender continue to meet these needs. He also said that the Neo Drive system is the first of its kind in this market segment and shows Toyota’s multi-pathway approach towards carbon neutrality by providing useful, cleaner transportation options that fit Indian consumers’ changing lifestyles.
