Kia has officially taken the wraps off the Carens Clavis, a more premium iteration of the popular Carens MPV. Bookings for the Caren’s Clavis will begin at 12:01 am on May 9, both online via Kia’s website and at its authorised dealerships. Pricing details are expected to be announced by the end of May 2025.
Kia Carens Clavis: Exterior
The Clavis’ standout feature is Kia’s most recent “digital tiger face” front fascia, similar to the flagship EV9. It has redesigned bumpers with silver bash plates for contrast and elegant LED DRLs that extend into triangular LED headlight housings. The Clavis has new dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels and a more noticeable LED light bar at the back, but its overall profile is still comparable to the standard Carens.
There are eight outside hues available for customers to choose from: Imperial Blue, Pewter Olive, Ivory Silver Gloss, Glacier White Pearl, Clear White, Gravity Gray, Sparkling Silver, and Aurora Black Pearl.
Kia Carens Clavis: Interior
The cabin of the Carens Clavis retains the standard Carens layout but has also made several improvements. It comes with a 6-seat and a 7-seat configuration, with lighter colour interiors for a more premium touch. The significant visual change is the adoption of the 22.62-inch dual-screen setup (10.25-inch driver’s display and 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen) taken from the Kia Seltos. It has also redesigned AC vents, new Auto AC controls, and a flat-bottom steering wheel from the Kia Syros.

Positioned as a More Premium Carens
The Clavis is a more upscale and modern iteration of the Carens MPV, with noticeable aesthetic enhancements, superior capabilities, and enhanced safety technology. It intends to provide a more upscale ownership experience using Kia’s new design language. The Carens Clavis will be offered in seven models: HTX, HTX+, HTK, HTK+, HTE, HTE(O), and HTK+(O) and six engine choices.
Packed with Features and ADAS Safety
The high HTX+ trim comes equipped with sophisticated technology like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual 10.25-inch display screens, panoramic sunroof, equipped car technology with remote capabilities, Bose 8-speaker sound system, and powered front seats, including a driver’s 4-way seat. Moreover, it offers a generous supplement of features like ventilated front seats. Regarding safety, the vehicle has a 360-degree camera alongside a Level 2 ADAS package of adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, and many more.
Kia Carens Clavis: Engine and Transmission Options
A key addition to the Carens Clavis lineup is the 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, a combo not previously offered in the standard Carens. Other powertrains include:
- 115hp, 1.5L petrol with 6-speed manual
- 160hp, 1.5L turbo-petrol with 6-speed iMT or 7-speed DCT
- 116hp, 1.5L diesel with 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic
Expected Pricing and Segment Positioning
The Clavis is anticipated to fetch a slightly higher price because the Carens is now priced between Rs 10.60 lakh and Rs 19.70 lakh. Due to this, it is in a one-of-a-kind position with no immediate competitors. The Maruti Ertiga, XL6, and Toyota Rumion are at the bottom of the MPV market, while the Toyota Innova Crysta and Hycross are at the top. By providing a fair blend of price, features, and quality, Clavis seeks to address this imbalance.
