MG Motor India has introduced a new entry-level Sprint option for the Astor SUV, with a starting price of Rs 9.98 lakh. The top variant (Savvy Pro) is priced at Rs 17.88 lakh. The Astor now boasts the lowest beginning price of any midsize SUV in the country and adds new features to its top-spec model.

MG Astor: engine options
Under the hood, in terms of mechanics, it doesn’t change. An eight-step CVT automatic gearbox or a five-speed manual transmission can be paired with a 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 110 horsepower and 144 Nm.
A 140hp, 220Nm, 1.3-liter, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed torque converter automatic is the alternative engine option, limited only to the top variant.

Rivals of MG Astor
The Astor is up against strong competition from the Hyundai Creta (which gets a facelift starting next week), Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, Citroen C5 Aircross, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and Skoda Kushaq. By including additional customer-focused features in the base model, MG hopes to boost the appeal of the slow-selling Astor.
