On December 28, Xiaomi unveiled the SU7, their first electric vehicle, marking a substantial entry into the electric vehicle market. More information on the SU7 was released by Xiaomi EV, the recently formed division dedicated to producing electric vehicles, establishing it as a formidable rival to the world’s top electric vehicles.
Lei Jun, the CEO of Xiaomi, emphasizes that the Xiaomi SU7 is not just aimed at competition but is positioned to match the aesthetics and performance of well-known electric vehicles, including the Tesla Model S.
The production of the electric vehicle has already started, taking place in Beijing at a facility owned by the Chinese automaker BAIC Group.
Upon closer inspection, the Xiaomi SU7’s athletic style is reminiscent of the Porsche Taycan. The SU7 is shown in the official images provided by the maker of electric vehicles as an opulent sports car with unique characteristics shared by the well-known German automaker.
Its attractive appearance is enhanced by the Aqua Blue exterior color scheme, which is further emphasized by the addition of fashionable alloy wheels.
In terms of power, the Xiaomi SU7 base model will have a 73.6 kWh battery pack, while the premium model will have a larger 101 kWh battery pack.
With the launch of its own CTB (Cell-to-Body) technology, Xiaomi has effectively integrated the battery into the car. This invention results in a more roomy cabin by reducing height, eliminating the typical floor, and improving structural rigidity.
The electric car company predicts that the SU7 will have an amazing range of up to 800 kilometers on a single charge. Furthermore, Xiaomi intends to release a new model by 2025 called the V8, which would have a larger 150 kWh battery pack with an amazing 1,200-kilometer range.
Notably, the Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan seeks to compete with some of the world’s quickest electric cars in terms of performance.
Xiaomi promises that the EV will reach at least 21,000 revolutions per minute (RPM), placing it in the top echelon of its class.
The two most common motors currently in production are the V6 and V6S, which have peak torque of up to 635 Nm and power outputs that range from 299 hp to 374 hp.
The top speed of the SU7 is anticipated to be 210 kmph for the base model and an amazing 265 kmph for the premium option.
