The British automotive giant Jaguar Land Rover reintroduced the V8 power on the Defender series in the Indian market after it exited in 2024. Priced from Rs 1.39 crore  ($ 166,800 estimated), the V8 is available in all three body options: 110, 130, and 90. Although specifics on its pricing have not been completely announced, there is a lot of buzz over its return.

What’s New in 2025 Defender?

Initially, the V8 engine was used for the most expensive lineup, but in 2019, it was made available for two models: X-Dynamic HSE and X. There is a 5.0-liter V8 that churns out 426 hp and 610 Nm of torque. Standard features at Jaguar include the Terrain Response system and an electronic air suspension. The Defender V8 also comes with 20-inch wheels fitted with all-terrain tires.

Even more surprisingly, the 518hp version of the same 5.0-litre V8 engine offered in 2024 has been withdrawn. Nonetheless, the Defender retains the 2.0-litre petrol (linked exclusively with the 110 model with X-Dynamic HSE finish) and 3.0-litre diesel (with every body style), X-Dynamic HSE, X, and Sedona Edition optionally.

Defender V8 also comes with high-level performance trims such as a 5.0L supercharged V8 engine that offers exciting horsepower of 518 and torque of 461 lb.-ft. In terms of technology, the vehicle features an electronic air suspension system, including other off-road features that make the car more suitable for off-road use. It also improves the suspension system to make driving more comfortable on any road. Let’s not forget that the Defender V8 is also a true 4X4 so that one can estimate its off-road capabilities at any given terrain and climate.

For tech freaks, Defender V8 comprises a modern Pivi Pro infotainment system that connects with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and includes a navigation system. The terminal is to use the 4G Wi-Fi hotspot while on the move, while the Smart Safety of the Defender V8 includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Emergency Braking.

Adding to the mix is the 7- and 8-passenger configurations of the Defender 130. In the 2+2+3 architecture design, the middle-row seats are ventilated captain chairs with winged headrests, while the 2+3+3 design follows more of a conventional design layout.
