Basalt Coupe

The Citroen Basalt was shown as a concept in March 2024 and is set to premiere in August. Citroen India has begun teasing the SUV coupe before its arrival, with the most recent teaser revealing details about its interior.

What Was Seen?

The teaser revealed the cabin seats and new dashboard decor. It will have a beige-coloured interior and a front center armrest. Both the front and back seats have adjustable headrests. The teaser also showed a peek of the dashboard, which is identical to that seen on the C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross SUV, as well as the floating style infotainment screen (likely the same 10.2-inch unit present on other Citroen offerings in India).

Expected Features and Safety

Although the French automaker has not given full details about the SUV coupe’s interior, we can anticipate it to share several amenities with its SUV sibling, the C3 Aircross, including a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. It will also incorporate cruise control, automatic air conditioning, a wireless phone charger, push-button start/stop, and keyless entry.

Regarding safety, it is believed to include six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a rear parking camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Expected Powertrain

The Basalt is anticipated to be driven by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine found in the C3 Aircross and C3 hatchback, providing 110 Hp and up to 205 Nm. It can have a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter unit.

Expected Price

Citroen is expected to launch the Basalt shortly after its debut in August, with its prices likely to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
