BMW India has announced that on October 4, the M4, the company’s most aggressively styled performance sedan, will be on sale in India. The BMW M4 CS, or Competition Sport, will cost more than the Competition, now available for purchase in India for Rs 1.53 crore. It also has several mechanical upgrades that increase its speed.

The 3.0-liter straight-six twin-turbo engine from the standard M4, also used in the limited-edition CSL, is improved for the BMW.

M4 CS. The CS has 20 horsepower more than the M4 Competition, which has 530 horsepower. This is because the turbo boost pressure increased from 1.7 bar to 2.1 bar. The torque figure of the CS is identical to that of the Competition, but it maintains the 650Nm peak at the top end of the rev range for an extra 220 rpm or 2,750 rpm to 5,950 rpm.

According to BMW, the powertrain has also been modified to withstand extended periods spent on the track. Improvements have been made to the engine’s cooling system and the clutch’s oil supply, for instance, to guarantee that the four-wheel-drive system continues functioning. The CS-specific, stiffer engine mounts should also increase the powertrain’s responsiveness.

BMW promises to reach 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the Competition.

BMW M4 CS: Chassis

Thanks to a titanium exhaust silencer and several carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) parts, such as the gearbox paddles, center console, and interior accents, the CS weighs 20 kg less than the basic model. In addition, the manufacturer claims that the CS’s chassis, which includes stiffer springs and anti-roll bars that are supposed to lessen roll through tight bends, has been adjusted to enhance wheel control and steering accuracy. Additionally, the stability-control system’s programming has been changed to increase the point at which it will intervene to stop a slide.

The lightweight, staggered wheels of the CS are carried over from the last M3 CS; the front wheels are 19-inch alloys, while the rear wheels are 20-inchers. Standard on these are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, although a free upgrade to the more track-oriented Cup 2 R tires is also an option.

BMW M4 CS: Other Changes

The M4 CS sets itself out from the Competition with a red-outlined grille and unique daytime running lights with a yellow tint, modeled by BMW’s GT race cars.
