Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled two special limited-edition versions of its Triumph Rocket 3 R and GT models in remembrance of the renowned Evel Knievel. Only 500 of these limited editions will be made globally in honour of Knievel and Triumph’s long-standing partnership.
Triumph’s Collaboration With Evel Knievel
Evel Knievel and Triumph began their collaboration in the 1960s when Knievel first used Triumph motorcycles to perform stunts, such as his well-known leap over the fountains at Caesars Palace. The bike is designed to resemble Knievel’s signature white jumpsuit, which is striped and star-studded. However, the Rocket would not have been Knievel’s preferred bike because of its weight.
Triumph Rocket Evel Knievel Edition: Design & Features
The full chrome fuel tanks on the Rocket 3 R and GT Evel Knievel Limited Editions are a reflection of the stuntman’s signature style; the bold design features matching rear bodywork and contrasting matte Sapphire Black panels; the leather seats are embroidered with Knievel’s signature logo in gold; and Triumph has added a custom start-up screen animation for the instrument cluster.
Additionally, both models come with distinctive cam cover plates in gold and black, each with a unique number. A collector’s edition hardback book that details Knievel’s renowned stunts and his relationship with Triumph will also be given to each buyer. Triumph CEO Nick Bloor signs each book with a unique number corresponding to the bike it comes with.
Triumph Rocket Evel Knievel Edition: Specifications
The Rocket 3 R and GT Limited Editions share the same Specifications as the regular variants. While the GT leans more towards a cruiser style with a taller flyscreen, a pillion grab rail, and footpegs placed somewhat further forward than those on the R, the Rocket 3 R offers a roadster design and a more dedicated rider’s triangle. The Rocket 3’s enormous 2,500cc three-cylinder engine, the biggest ever fitted in a production motorcycle, has long been one of its most notable features. This engine produces 182 horsepower and a remarkable 221 Nm of peak torque.
Price and Appearance
The “Storm” version of the Standard Rocket 3, which costs Rs. 21.9 lakh (ex-showroom, India), has a matte black paint job and a black powder coating on the engine and exhaust, giving it an altogether black-out appearance.
