Inspired by the 1973 BMW R 90 S, BMW Motorrad has unveiled the BMW R 12 S, a vintage roadster. The R 12 nineT, introduced earlier this year in India, served as the foundation for the construction of this bike. The Lava Orange Metallic paint color of the R 12 S, a fully equipped and upgraded version of the R nineT, is reminiscent of the vintage R 90 S Daytona Orange from 1975.
BMW R 12 S: What Do We Know So Far?
The R 12 S is powered by the same 1,170cc twin-cylinder boxer engine that powers the R 12 nineT. It produces 108 horsepower and 115 Nm of torque. A six-speed gearbox is linked to the engine. The chassis, hardware setup, and cycle components of the R 12 S are all the same as those of the R 12 nineT because they share core characteristics with the motorbike on which it is based.
Its black-finished handlebars distinguish the R 12 S, black upside-down fork tubes and spoked wheels with anodized rims, all of which go well with the bright orange design. Along with a single seat, a retro-inspired rounded half-fairing and headlight, and bar-end mirrors, the bike also has a Lava Orange accent to evoke the 1970s style.
