BMW S 1000 XR

The updated S 1000 XR uses BMW’s renowned inline four-cylinder engine. Engineers have refined the powerplant to deliver stronger performance than the previous model. The engine now produces 170 hp at 11,000 rpm and 114 Nm of peak torque at 9,250 rpm. This represents an increase of 5 hp over the outgoing version.

BMW claims the motorcycle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.25 seconds. The S 1000 XR can also achieve a top speed of 253 km/h, placing it among the fastest motorcycles in its category.

The motorcycle combines high-speed performance with smooth power delivery, making it equally suitable for spirited rides and long-distance touring. Riders can enjoy strong acceleration across the rev range while maintaining comfort during extended journeys.

BMW S 1000 XR: Design

BMW has introduced several visual updates to give the S 1000 XR a fresher appearance. The company replaced the black front beak with a body-coloured unit, creating a more premium and integrated look.

The redesigned side panels and rear air intakes draw inspiration from BMW’s motorsport division. These changes add a sportier character while improving the motorcycle’s aerodynamic profile.

BMW has also redesigned the seat to enhance comfort during both touring and track riding. The standard seat height stands at 850 mm, but riders can choose lower seat options to suit their preferences.

BMW S 1000 XR: Features and Packages

BMW offers several equipment packages that allow buyers to customize the motorcycle according to their needs. The Touring and Dynamics packages come as standard equipment.

The Touring Package includes a luggage carrier, centre stand, navigation device preparation, hand protection, heated grips, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. These additions make the motorcycle more practical for long-distance travel.

The Dynamics Package focuses on performance. It includes cruise control, Shift Assistant Pro, and Dynamic ESA Pro. These features improve riding comfort and enhance overall handling.

For enthusiasts seeking maximum performance, BMW offers the M Package. This package includes an M Sport seat, lightweight M battery, M forged wheels or optional M Carbon wheels, M GPS Laptrigger, M Endurance chain, sports silencer, tinted windscreen, and a black fuel filler cap.

The exclusive white M-inspired colour scheme is available only with this package. Buyers must pay an additional ₹2.50 lakh for the M Package.

Pricing and Rivals

BMW has priced the new S 1000 XR at ₹22.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it ₹40,000 more expensive than the model it replaces.

In the Indian market, the BMW S 1000 XR competes with premium sport-touring motorcycles such as the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak. It will also face competition from the Ducati Multistrada V4 RS whenever that model arrives in India.

With its combination of superbike-derived performance, advanced technology, and touring-focused comfort, the new BMW S 1000 XR remains one of the most capable and versatile motorcycles in its segment.
