The MG Motor Windsor Pro is launching on the 6th of May. Having the above positioning over the Windsor EV, the Windsor Pro will receive a larger battery pack, more tech, and features to go along with updated styling for the exterior and interior. Price announcements for the Windsor Pro will be made post-launch.
MG Windsor Pro: Bigger Battery, Same Power
While the Windsor currently being sold in India comes equipped with a 38kWh battery pack, the Windsor Pro will be endowed with a bigger 50.6kWh battery. This is almost the same as the one being sold in Indonesia, under the name Wuling Cloud EV. With this upgrade, the India-spec Windsor Pro is expected to provide a claimed range of 460km according to the CLTC cycle. Comparatively, the 38kWh variant is rated at 332km by ARAI. Despite being equipped with a bigger battery, the Windsor Pro will probably retain the powertrain setup consisting of a 136hp motor and 200Nm of torque with a front-wheel-drive layout.
Real-World Range
A real-world test has demonstrated the efficiency of the existing Windsor, with a rating of 8.1km/kWh and giving a real-time range of 308km, only 24km less than its officially stated claim. To juxtapose, the Tata Nexon EV, with its electric powertrain producing roughly the same power as that of the Windsor, is powered by a 45kWh battery, which is capable of a real-world 350km range with an efficiency of 7.79km/kWh. Since the Pro is the variant with the larger battery, it is speculated that, in real-life instances, the range may approach 400km, which would suit longer commutes outside of the city. Previously, 35 minutes of DC fast-charging had imparted sufficient juice to claim a 232km range for the 38kWh Windsor, and one would expect similar increments with the Pro variant’s 50.6kWh battery.

MG Windsor Pro: Features and Design
Expected to bring in many upgrades beyond the battery is the Windsor Pro. This could comprise ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) charging function, newly designed alloy wheels, and maybe a powered tailgate. MG is yet to confirm everything that would be added to the features list, but the Pro variant will definitely be ahead in terms of technology and convenience.
Windsor EV Sales Performance in India
The Windsor has greatly enhanced MG’s electric vehicle sales since the beginning of September 2024. MG has sold 19,394 units of the Windsor from September 2024 to March 2025, averaging about 2,700 units a month. Significantly, the Windsor has remained a strong competitor by consistently beating its principal rival, the Tata Nexon EV, which previously dominated the electric vehicle market for a long time. With the launch of the Windsor Pro and its bigger battery, the allure for more buyers to MG looks promising. Thus, the price may see a slight uptick, and the current car is priced at โน14 lakh to โน16 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Windsor.
