According to Xiaomi and reports, the company does not currently have any plans to introduce the Xiaomi SU7, its electric car, in India. Since its release earlier this year, the SU7 has been warmly received in China, where the company is concentrating on the market. The company must carry out extensive study before contemplating an entry into the Indian EV market, according to Anuj Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer at Xiaomi India.
Xiaomi SU7: Specs
With a starting price of approx $30,408 (approx โน26,00,200), also known as the Speed Ultra 7, it is an electric sedan, which is Xiaomiโs first vehicle. It has a “super electric motor” that delivers acceleration speeds that surpass those of Tesla and Porsche’s electric vehicles. It comes in two variants, with ranges of up to 668 km and 800 km on a single charge, respectively. In China, the SU7 is about approx $4,000 (approx โน3,41,956) less expensive than the base model of Tesla’s Model 3.

The company has spent $10 billion worldwide on the electronics brand as it seeks to expand beyond smartphones. The deliveries of the SU7 started in China in March 2024, and the company introduced the car in Bengaluru earlier this year. However, the firm stresses that it is important to carry out a critical analysis of the feasibility of the operation in the region before attempting to expand to the Indian market, suggesting that it may be some time before they release products for the Indian market.
Taking into account all of this, Xiaomi is approaching its entry into the Indian market for electric cars carefully despite the fact that the SU7 has piqued interest in China due to its features and affordable price.
