The all-new Skoda Elroq electric SUV has made its world premiere along with the brand’s “Modern Solid” design language. Between the flagship Enyaq iV and the future Epiq tiny EV, scheduled for release in 2025, this is Skoda’s first electric vehicle (EV) in the midsize SUV segment. Although there is no official word on when it will be launched in India, Skoda India says it is being considered. It is currently available for purchase in Europe.
Skoda Elroq: Exterior Design
The “Tech-Deck Face,” as Skoda refers to it, is the most distinctive feature of the Modern Solid design language, initially seen in the Vision 7S concept in 2022. A new black panel that spans the width of the face and has four segmented LED daytime running lamp elements at either edge has replaced the recognizable Skoda butterfly grille. The vertical air vents that slide down the headlight cluster are a nice design element, while the main headlamps are mounted on the bumper. The front bumper also gets a thick plastic coating and a faux silver skid plate, and it even incorporates active cooling vents that automatically close to reduce air resistance.
The Elroq has a sleek multi-spoke wheel design, an expansive glass housing, and clean, smooth surfaces—all hallmarks of a Skoda vehicle. With its identically shaped taillamps, “SKODA” branding across the tailgate, and a sturdy-looking dual-tone bumper, the back of the car resembles a scaled-down Enyaq. Skoda claims the clean surfaces on the Elroq have helped it achieve a drag coefficient of just 0.26.
The Elroq is the first model to forgo the iconic Skoda emblem entirely. Instead, the ‘SKODA’ branding is placed on the hood, tailboard, and steering wheel.
Skoda Elroq: Interior And Features
Similar to the Enyaq, it features a winged dashboard design inside. The AC vents are located below the same 13-inch central infotainment screen. An orderly pile of physical buttons is a shortcut for ADAS, drive modes, HVAC controls, and other amenities. A stylish digital instrument cluster follows the redesigned steering wheel mentioned earlier.
With a drive selector lever and a few cupholders, the central console also resembles the Enyaq. Being a native electric vehicle, it has numerous clever in-cabin storage spaces with a 48-liter capacity; the boot can hold 470 liters. Interestingly, Elroq’s interior trims are created from sustainable materials. Recycled PET bottles are used for the upholstery, while fishing net nylon and recycled polyester are used.
Skoda Elroq: Powertrain And Range
The VW Group’s MEB architecture, which powers the Audi Q4 and Volkswagen ID 3, among other vehicles, serves as the foundation for the Elroq. It is slightly bigger than the ICE-powered Karoq (4.39 meters) but much smaller than the Enyaq (4.65 meters) when stretched to 4.49 meters in this location.
Currently, three battery and powertrain combinations—50, 60, and 85—are available. With a 52kWh battery pack and a 170hp rear-mounted motor, the entry-level 50 is said to have a range of more than 370 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. With a 59kWh battery and 204 horsepower, the 60 variant can travel almost 385 kilometers. With a considerably larger 77kWh battery and 285 horsepower, the range-topping 85 version has a range of more than 560 kilometers. Skoda claims the 85 variant can accelerate 100 km/h from 0 in 6.6 seconds and attain a maximum velocity of 180 km/h.

The larger 85 pack can require 175kW to fully recharge in 28 minutes, while the 50 and 60 can be charged at up to 145kW, moving from 10% to 80% in 25 minutes. With an extra motor on the front axle, the 85 model can also be purchased in an all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration; however, it won’t be available until 2025.
Skoda Elroq India Launch Details
As previously stated, Skoda India is thinking of launching the Elroq here. If it does, it would be joining the ranks of the Tata Curvv EV, the soon-to-be Hyundai Creta EV, and the Maruti eVX, among others. Skoda claims that it has brought the pricing of the Elroq in Europe up to par with that of the ICE-powered Karoq, and if it is localized in India, it may also be positioned competitively.
Before that, Skoda will release the flagship Enyaq iV as a full import and work on the new Kylaq compact SUV.
