Priced at ₹46.36 lakh ($55,800), Toyota has unveiled the Fortuner Legender 4×4 MT. This is the first time the Legender receives a manual transmission—just in the 4×4 model. Features, design, or color choices remain the same apart from the gearbox.

Under the hood, the 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine still powers the Legender, generating 204 horses. However, when combined with the 6-speed manual gearbox, the torque is 420 Newton-meters—80 Newton-meters less than the automatic model. Still the standard, the 4×4 system guarantees off-road competence.

The manual and automatic models have no interior or cosmetic distinctions. The SUV still has a black and maroon interior motif, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a Platinum White Pearl with Black Roof dual-tone exterior. Key elements include seven airbags for safety, a hands-free tailgate opening, heated front seats, and an 11-speaker JBL audio system with a subwoofer.
How It Compares Against Rivals
In its category, the Fortuner Legender is still the only model providing a 4×4 system with a manual transmission. Competitors like the MG Gloster (₹39.57 lakh – ₹44.03 lakh or $47,600 – $53,000) and Jeep Meridian (₹24.99 lakh – ₹38.79 lakh or $30,100 – $46,700) lack this combo, thereby offering the Legender a unique advantage for off-road enthusiasts.
