This classic mid-range luxury automotive manufacturer BYD Denza showed its newest concept sporty car named Denza Z at the Shanghai International Auto Show in 2025. This futuristic four-seater coupe could be an alleged rival to the Porsche 911, and it also stands to showcase Denza’s advanced technologies that it plans to implement in its new models.
BYD Denza Z Concept: Design
The Denza Z differs from that low, athletic stance, giving its lean, muscular bodily proportions a bold and sporty look. The front has much of that prominent lip with headlights designed with sharp-edged lines, all contributing to an energetic presence. The body has many defined, sculpted forms exhibiting sleek flowing forms, like that coupe profile with the rearward half narrowing from the B-pillar to give rise to a distinctly muscular effect over the rear wheels. This will then be clean and modern, with frameless windows, hidden door handles, and big wheels finishing up the aggressive identity. Buyers should choose from hardtop or convertible variants, adding flexibility to that style.

BYD Denza Z Concept: Interior & Features
While the interiors are still unclear, Denza focused on essential features to provide a premium driving experience. One special innovative system is a steer-by-wire system, thus eliminating the mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and the steering gear. According to the company, it’s an AI-enabled steering system that provides a smooth and refined feel under normal conditions whilst having high levels of precision and response for spirited use on a racetrack. Other interesting features include a foldable steering wheel that creates more cabin space in the event of a collision while enhancing the futuristic look of the cockpit.
Suspension and Handling
The Denza Z also debuts Denza’s new Disus-M system, which enhances the existing Disus-C. This advanced magnetorheological suspension has the unique capacity to adjust itself in real-time, determining the changing nature of the road as dictated by the input delivered by sensors, and thus can react in less than 10 milliseconds. Denza claims this will provide better support and stability while cornering at high speeds. Additionally, the company confirmed that its suspension system will be the future suspension system for all Denza and BYD vehicles.
BYD Denza Z Concept: Powertrain
Denza has not specified the complete specifications for the powertrain relating to Z; however, it could be expected to employ BYD’s recent issuance, the 30,511 rpm electric motor. This motor has found its application in BYD Han L and Tang L, and its inclusion in Denza Z aligns with the desire for the performance of its brand. Using this high-revving motor, in all likelihood, indicates that Denza Z will be capable of giving swift acceleration with high-end performance.
Pricing
Denza has not disclosed its final pricing, but the indications are that it will start at 300,000 yuan, equivalent to over 42,000 US dollars. That assigns it to the premium segment, but from the standpoint of traditional luxury sports cars, it certainly puts it at the more accessible entry point.
