New Maruti Dzire

Global NCAP conducted a crash test on Maruti Suzuki’s compact sedan shortly after unveiling the new fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire in India. The new Maruti Dzire has been awarded an excellent 5-star safety certification for adult occupant protection and a 4-star safety grade for child occupant protection. As a result, Maruti is the first company to ever receive a 5-star rating from Global NCAP.

Regarding adult occupant protection, the Dzire scored 31.24 points out of 34. According to the study, the driver’s and passenger’s heads and necks were well protected, but the driver’s chest only had mediocre protection, and the passenger’s chest only had sufficient protection. Additionally, the knees of the driver and passenger were well-protected. Notably, the footwell area and bodyshell were classified as stable, and the former could withstand additional loads.

The Dzire also demonstrated good protection for the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis in a side impact test. The side pole impact test showed good protection for the head, abdomen, and pelvis but only moderate protection for the chest. Additionally, ESC’s performance met Global NCAP’s standards.

New Maruti Dzire: Child Occupant Protection

Regarding child occupant protection, the Dzire received 39.20 out of 42 points. According to the investigation, the 3-year-old’s forward-facing child seat, secured with ISOFIX anchorages, completely protected the head and chest but only partially protected the neck, preventing excessive forward movement during the frontal collision. With its rearward-facing installation and ISOFIX anchorages, the 18-month-old child seat provided complete protection by preventing head exposure during the frontal collision. CRS, ages three and eighteen months, demonstrated complete protection during the crash. Every position passed the CRS installation.

In an official statement, David Ward, Executive President of the Towards Zero Foundation, said, “The new Dzire’s 5-star rating sets a significant safety benchmark for Maruti Suzuki compared to the previous version of this model and others from Maruti we have tested. Global NCAP warmly welcomes this milestone voluntary test result. We are optimistic that going forward Maruti will seek to achieve this high level of safety performance across their model range. If they do, it will be a vehicle safety game changer for Indian consumers.”
