One of Mahindra’s most anticipated launches has been spotted undisguised. Images of the next Mahindra Thar 5-door have surfaced online, displaying the front end of a production-ready 5-door Thar.
Mahindra Thar 5-door: What’s new?
According to the photos, the Thar 5-door will feature a revised grille design with six double-stacked slots instead of the seven slots found in the existing 3-door Thar. The headlamps retain the Thar’s round appearance and now use an LED projector with a C-shaped DRL.
A camera on the wing mirror indicates that this SUV will include a 360-degree camera.
Mahindra Thar 5-door: What We Know
The Mahindra Thar 5-door will be available with three engine options: a 1.5-litre entry-level diesel engine, a 2.2-litre diesel engine, or a 2.0-litre petrol engine, with manual and automatic transmission options. Aside from the usual rear-wheel drive, the SUV will also be offered with 4WD, similar to the existing 3-door Thar on sale.
Mahindra Thar 5-door: Expected launch
Mahindra announced the 3-door Thar on August 15, 2020. We expect the 5-door Thar will be revealed on the same date this year. The SUV’s manufacturing has commenced. Dealers have also been accepting unofficial reservations, so you can be confident the launch is close. It will likely be known as the Mahindra Thar Armada when it launches.
