The range-topping Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP is now listed on the Ducati India website. It will be the third Hypermotard available in India, following the RVE and the recently introduced single-cylinder Hypermotard Mono 698.
Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP: Specifications and Price
The SP is the most advanced model in Ducati’s Hypermotard 950 line-up and features specific high-end components. The most significant upgrade is the switch to Ohlins suspension at both the front and back. These completely adjustable units are not only more expensive than the Marzocchi/Sachs arrangement on the standard Hypermotard but also have different characteristics.
The Ohlins USD fork is now a large 48mm device (up from 45mm) with increased wheel travel from 170mm to 185mm. The Ohlins mono-shock also allows more wheel travel, from 150mm to 175mm.
The SP features lighter Marchesini forged wheels, and Ducati claims a 2-kg weight reduction. However, at 191kg without fuel, the Hypermotard will weigh more than 200kg when the 14.5-liter fuel tank is full. Another somewhat intimidating figure is the 890mm seat height, a 20mm increase over the Hypermotard RVE due to the additional suspension travel. OH! There are no changes to the chassis or braking system. However, the SP is equipped with sticky Pirelli Supercorsa SP tires instead of the Pirelli Rosso 3s seen on the Hypermotard RVE. The 937cc L-twin engine remains intact, delivering 114hp and 96Nm. While this engine is used in various Ducati models, it has the most aggressive tune and meanest exhaust tone in the Hypermotard.
The bike is visually identical to the RVE, except for the distinctive SP graphics and the different design of the Marchesini wheels. The Hypermotard SP costs Rs 19.05 lakh, which is Rs 3 lakh more than the Hypermotard RVE. It is the third most costly Ducati with a 937cc L-twin engine, exceeding even the DesertX and Multistrada V2 S.
