Tata Motors’ fifth all-electric vehicle, the eagerly awaited Curvv EV, has arrived in India. With beginning prices ranging from Rs 17.49 lakh to Rs 21.99 lakh, the Tata Curvv EV competes directly with the MG ZS EV, which costs between Rs 18.98 lakh and Rs 25.44 lakh.
Tata Curvv EV : Interior and Features
The Curvv and Curvv EV have the same interior layout, but the all-electric version has dual-tone white and grey colors, which help differentiate it from the Curvv’s red and grey finish. The dashboard seems familiar, with a 12.3-inch floating infotainment touchscreen in the center. A touch-based climate control panel is located beneath the infotainment unit and the trapezoidal AC vents.
The four-spoke steering is similar to that found on the Harrier and has paddle shifters for adjusting regen modes. Top-spec versions will feature a 10.25-inch digital instrument display with navigation. The center console includes a rotary drive selection, a gear lever, and a wireless charging pad. The Curvv EV gets a trunk, and the boot size is limited to 500 litres.
The features include a leatherette upholstery, ventilated six-way adjustable front seats, a two-step rear seat recline function, a cooled glove box, front and rear 45W Type-C charging ports, connected car tech, the Arcade: ev app suite, a panoramic sunroof, and a powered tailgate with gesture control. Top-tier models additionally include a 320W 9-speaker JBL sound system.
There are six airbags, an electronic parking brake with auto hold function, a hill-start and descent aid, ESP, a driver drowsiness alert system, a blind spot monitor, and Level 2 ADAS features. The Curvv EV has a sound alarm system that warns pedestrians at speeds up to 20kmph.
Tata Curvv EV : Exterior
The Curvv EV and ICE variants have minor visual modifications. The all-electric version includes a closed-off ‘grille,’ a nose-mounted charger (which closes automatically after the EV starts), and a lower bumper region with vertical stylistic elements. The 18-inch alloy wheels with an aero-optimized design distinguish the EV’s sides, but the rear is identical except for the logos. The front and rear LED lights display a welcoming signature.
Tata Curvv EV : Range and Battery Details
The Curvv EV has two battery pack options: a 45kWh unit for the Creative, Accomplished, and Accomplished+ variations and a 55kWh unit for the Accomplished, Accomplished+ S, Empowered+, and Empowered+ A models. The former has a MIDC range of 502 km, and the latter can travel 585 km on a single charge. Tata claims that its C75 testing standard will allow the long-range model to travel 400-425 km on a single charge, while the 45kWh Curvv EV has a C75 range of 330-350 km.
All variations include a 167-hp electric motor positioned on the front axle. It is said to help the Curvv EV accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 8.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 kph. Tata claims that the battery can charge up to 150 km in 15 minutes and 10-80 percent in 40 minutes using a 70kW charger. The iRA app is stated to include an integrated charge point, and the model supports V2L and V2V charging.
