The Kia Syros is expected to be launched in India later this week to add more depth to the Kia compact SUV range. The codename for AY, the Syros, is a notch above Sonet regarding family appeal, though the two are designed under the sub-4-meter BSVI-compliant compact SUV architecture. It will come with new upgrades, and its prices will most likely be announced during the next exhibit at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January.

Kia Syros: Exterior

Kia Syros Exterior

The design of Kia Syros looks quite different from other vehicles, mainly due to its tall and naturally boxy format for more interior space. It has an integrated clamshell bonnet with a 2D effect Kia logo prominent below the bonnet, which hosts vertically arranged headlamps and Daytime Running lamps. The following rugged features are also found in the vehicle: the wheel arches and bumpers come with black cladding. The new alloy wheels, perhaps as much as 17 inches on the upper models, improve the style even more. Teasers unveiled show a strong U-hardpoint in the window line at the B-Pillar, similar to the Skoda Yeti. Other design features include a sharp bend in the rear quarter glass, smooth flush-fitting door handles, and L-shaped tail-lights positioned high at the back.

Kia Syros: Interior and Features

Kia claims that with Syros, the interior would resemble a โ€˜loungeโ€™ with โ€˜elements of the futureโ€™ and the seating layout of the innovative car. The rear seat space will grow significantly, which is expected to outdo not only the Sonet but also the larger Seltos. In the same class, only Hyundai Venue has an adjustable rear back seat feature, which will also be available in Syros. The most premium models will probably include a 10.25-inch screen for the infotainment system and a completely digital cluster. The teasers show a new two-spoke steering wheel with buttons for infotainment and terrain management (Mud & Snow/Wet/Sand). Self-parking, a wireless charger, USB-C ports, a panoramic sunroof, and Advanced Driver Assistant Systems are also intended for the Syros.

Kia Syros: Engine and Expected Price

The Kia Syros will be powered by two engine options: a turbo-petrol 1.0-litre engine delivering 120hp and 172 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel engine making 116hp and 350Nm of torque. Both engines will be available in the manual and automatic transmission systems. However, the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit, well seen in the entry-level variants of the Sonet, will not be powering the Syros to fit its positioning.

Situated above the Sonet, the turbo-petrol announced variants cost between Rs 9.63 lakh and Rs 14.91 lakh (ex-showroom), it is all aimed that the brand new Syros would begin around Rs 10 lakh and cross Rs 15 lakh. This pricing could extend partially into some other versions of the Seltos.
