Skoda Kylaq

Skoda Auto has officially introduced the Skoda Kylaq, marking a significant milestone as the brand’s first sub-4-meter SUV and the inaugural model in India to feature the brand’s new Modern Solid design language. This latest entry reinforces ล koda’s presence in India’s highly competitive compact SUV segment, where nearly half of the market is driven by demand for sub-4-meter vehicles.

Skoda Kylaq: Exterior

The Kylaq’s exterior design aligns with Skoda’s Modern Solid concept, evident in a prominent shiny black grille featuring 3D ribs and replacing the brand’s traditional radiator grille. Additionally, the front profile includes a bold lower front spoiler with aluminum optics. Slim LED headlights maintain Skoda’s characteristic four-eye design with separate upper and lower modules that offer daytime running and high/low beam lighting. Clean side lines, robust wheel arch cladding, and elevated ground clearance create a refined SUV stance with a unique hexagonal pattern extending to the rear.

Skoda Kylaq: Powertrain

Skoda Kylaq

The Kylaq will be a petrol-only vehicle that is only available with the three-cylinder 1.0 TSI engine from the Volkswagen Group. The 999cc engine is a fun and powerful machine despite its small displacement. Direct injection and turbocharging allow for a robust 115 horsepower and 178 Nm, and the engine can be maximized with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Skoda boasts that the Kylaq can reach 100 kph in 10.5 seconds, making it one of the fastest small SUVs available. For the time being, the fuel economy is still uncertain.

Skoda Kylaq: Pricing

Skoda has access to the heart of the Indian SUV industry because of Kylaq’s starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh. According to Skoda, the Kylaq will be supported by a broader sales and service network, which will increase the automaker’s geographic reach into unexplored cities and villages.
