MG Windsor EV Indulge Edition in Shadow Gold with black roof and alloy wheels

The MG Windsor EV Indulge Edition, launched on 13 October 2026, is a special edition of the car MG describes as India’s best-selling electric vehicle. It builds on the Windsor Essence with a Shadow Gold finish, a revised tan-and-black cabin and a roof-mounted entertainment screen for rear passengers. Mechanically, nothing changes.

The question for buyers is whether these additions justify the premium over the Essence, and whether that money would be better spent on the larger-battery Windsor Pro. This MG Windsor EV Indulge Edition review covers design, interior, features, range, charging and pricing to help you decide.

MG Windsor EV Indulge Edition: Design

The most visible change is the Shadow Gold paint, paired with a black roof, black mirror housings and 18-inch black alloy wheels. The contrast gives the Windsor a more distinctive and premium presence than the standard colour options. A small Indulge badge on the rear quarter glass is the only exterior marker of the edition.

Everything else carries over, including the LED lighting, the body cladding and the tall crossover profile that sits between a hatchback and a compact SUV. The car measures 4,295 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,677 mm in height, with a 2,700 mm wheelbase.

MG Windsor EV Indulge Edition: Interior and Comfort

Inside, the cabin moves to a black-and-tan leatherette theme, which MG calls Urban Tan and Black. The front headrests carry Indulge embroidery, front occupants get themed neck cushions and rear passengers get matching pillows. A long-term test of the standard Windsor found its seats firmer than expected, so the added cushioning may prove practical as well as decorative.

The main addition is the PRIVE Screen, a roof-mounted flip-down display for rear passengers, fitted as standard. At least one report describes it as a first in the segment. It should appeal to chauffeur-driven buyers and families who travel with children on longer journeys. MG has not officially shared the screen size or its content options. Some websites mention 15.6 inches, but we could not confirm this, so request a demonstration before booking.

The rest of the cabin is shared with the Essence. The Aero-Lounge seats recline up to 135 degrees, and the car has a panoramic glass roof, ventilated front seats and a 604-litre boot, which MG calls the largest in its segment. MG also lists an accessory pack with a rear sunshade, themed 3D mats, chrome grille accents, bumper corner protectors, body-side moulding and a leather key cover. Reports differ on whether the pack is included in the price, so confirm this with your dealer. The sunshade addresses a gap noted in long-term testers, who missed rear sunblinds.

MG Windsor EV Indulge Edition: Features and Infotainment

Because the Indulge is based on the Essence, it inherits that variant’s equipment: a 15.6-inch Grand View touchscreen, 80+ i-SMART connected features, the MG App Store powered by Jio, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 9-speaker Infinity audio system, 256-colour ambient lighting and a 360-degree camera. Safety equipment includes 6 airbags, electronic stability programme, an electric parking brake with auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring and disc brakes on all four wheels. MG lists Level-2 ADAS only on the Essence Pro, so it should not be expected here.

There are windsor properties worth jamming about. A long-terminus windsor audit found that most functions, from mirror to sunshine, go through the touch screen. The screen reverts to total light at each start, the washing machine release is at the top of the indicator gel, and there is no standard wheel replacement, just an inflation with a dealer. These are minor temper rather than bank breakers, but they deserve to be seen on a tribulation course..

MG Windsor EV Indulge Edition: Performance, Range and Charging

Mechanically, the Indulge is identical to the 38 kWh Windsor. A front-mounted motor produces 136 PS and 200 Nm, and the certified range is 332 km. Power delivery is smooth and relaxed, which suits the city use the car is designed for. There is no performance upgrade, and the additional cost goes towards styling and comfort.

Real-world range is lower than the certified figure. A long-term 38 kWh Windsor test car achieved close to 230 km in city use at 6.05 km/kWh, so that is a more realistic basis for daily planning. The 38 kWh variants support 45 kW DC fast charging, which takes the battery from 20 to 80 percent in around 45 minutes. The larger 52.9 kWh battery, with a claimed range of 449 km, is not offered on the Indulge. This trade-off is central to the buying decision.

MG Windsor EV Indulge Edition: Price

The table below shows ex-showroom prices listed on MG’s website at launch.

VariantBatteryClaimed rangeEx-showroom price
Essence38 kWh332 km₹17.15 lakh
Indulge Edition38 kWh332 km₹17.89 lakh
Exclusive Pro52.9 kWh449 km₹18.05 lakh

Some outlets quote ₹17,99,800 as the Indulge’s introductory price, while MG’s website listed ₹17,88,900 at launch, so confirm the final figure before booking. In either case, the Indulge costs roughly ₹75,000 to ₹1 lakh more than the Essence it is based on. That premium covers the paint, the PRIVE Screen, the seat trim, the cushions and the accessories, and nothing mechanical.

On Battery-as-a-Service, MG’s website lists an Indulge price starting at ₹13.14 lakh plus ₹4.30 per km. Launch coverage did not confirm a BaaS option, so verify this with the dealer.

Verdict

The Indulge Edition suits a specific buyer: someone who values rear-seat comfort, drives mainly in the city and wants a Windsor that stands apart. For that buyer, the PRIVE Screen, the added cushioning and the Shadow Gold finish add real character to an already spacious car.

For most other buyers, the Exclusive Pro makes a stronger case. It costs about the same and offers the larger 52.9 kWh battery with a claimed 449 km, though it lacks the special-edition styling and rear screen. Those who want Level-2 ADAS or plan regular highway trips should look at the Essence Pro instead.

Before booking, ask for a demonstration of the PRIVE Screen and confirm the final price and accessory inclusions with your dealer.
