Toyota has officially shown off the updated Corolla Cross and a brand-new trim level called GR Sport. The SUV is getting its second makeover in two years, and this is the first time it has the high-performance GR badge.
2025 Toyota Corolla Cross: Exterior and Interior
The 2025 model has some minor changes to the style compared to the one shown last year. New daytime running lights have been added to the headlights and taillights. A full-width light bar now connects the headlights to the Toyota logo in the middle. The new mesh pattern on the front bumper and the 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels give the car a new look. Other than that, the side appearance stays the same.
Cabin Sees Smart Practical Changes
The updates inside are mostly about making things easier. The centre panel has been redesigned to give you more space, with a sliding box, a new smartphone slot, and new locations for the cup holders. Toyota has also made changes to the gear knob and AC settings. The package still comes with the 10.5-inch touchscreen for entertainment, the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, the panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, ambient lighting, and heated seats.
2025 Toyota Corolla Cross: Retains Hybrid Engine Options
There have been no changes to the way it works. The SUV still has two hybrid engines: a 1.8-litre gasoline-electric engine that makes 140 hp and a 2.0-litre hybrid that produces 197 hp. The second one also comes in an AWD form with a Snow mode. Toyota says that the 140-hp hybrid will reach 60 mph in 9.9 seconds, the 197-hp FWD model in 7.6 seconds, and the AWD model in 7.5 seconds.
GR Sport Trim Adds Visual Punch
The GR Sport model is different because it has 19-inch all-black metal wheels, a sharper front end, more substantial bumpers, and a unique paint job that is both Storm Grey and black. GR logos are on the front grille and back bumper to help people recognise it.

GR Sport Interior and Ride Enhancements
GR logos are all over the car, and the seats feel like Brin-Naub suede. The interior also has red contrast stitching and a sportier look. The 10 mm drop in the suspension and the e-CVT Sport mode tuning make the car feel more dynamic to drive.
India Launch Not Happening
In the past, Toyota had considered putting the Corolla Cross, called 340 D, on the market in India. It even considered making cars locally at its plant in Karnataka for a launch in the middle of 2026. However, the model was deemed commercially unviable because it wasn’t expected to sell enough units yearly (about 75,000 units). It will not be brought to the Indian market at this time.
