Volkswagen has launched the new Volkswagen Tayron, which takes the place of the Tiguan Allspace and offers four engine options, additional onboard technology, and increased practicality. This model is basically the three-row Tayron that was unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show earlier this year under the moniker “Tiguan L Pro.”
Volkswagen Tayron: Features
The new Volkswagen Tayron is essentially a 231mm-long version of the 2018 Tiguan with the option of a third row of seats and an additional 198 liters of cargo space. However, because the 19.7kWh battery is located beneath the cargo floor, the PHEV isn’t available with seven seats. In addition, its boot capacity is reduced by 18 liters from the standard Tayron’s 885 liters for a five-seater.
The Volkswagen Tayron’s interior features a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. An additional 15-inch head-up display is offered as an option. Along with these and other ADAS technologies, it also has autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Volkswagen Tayron: Powertrain
The 1.5-liter turbo-petrol mild hybrid, which produces 150 horsepower for the front wheels, is the first model in the lineup. A 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine with front- or four-wheel drive and 204 or 265 horsepower comes next. There are two available power outputs for the 2.0-liter turbo diesel: 150 horsepower for front-wheel drive and 193 horsepower for VW’s 4Motion 4WD. All of these variants come equipped with a standard seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
With a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol, four-cylinder engine, one electric motor, and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, the PHEV is the range-topper. Volkswagen claims that the system may generate up to 272 horsepower or 204 horsepower through the front wheels. Both variants have an electric-only range exceeding 100 kilometers. Up to 50kW DC can be used to charge the 19.7kWh battery.
Volkswagen Tayron: India launch
Beginning in March 2025, the new Tayron will be delivered to the UK. Its price is anticipated to be slightly higher than that of the Tiguan AllSpace. When the new Tayron arrives in India later in 2025, it will be assembled using CKD kits.
