Nissan Patrol

Nissan has officially shown the all-new Patrol SUV. The new Nissan Patrol is set to go on sale internationally later this year and will have a redesigned platform, a new look and interior, and a plethora of technology. The Patrol will be sold in North America as the Nissan Armada. The SUV is very similar to the elegant Infiniti QX80, which is available in a few chosen international countries.

Nissan Patrol: Exterior Highlights

The new Patrol’s bodywork is slightly less rounded than its predecessor, giving it a more boxy look. The face gets a broad blacked-out grille, while the headlamps are vertically positioned and have an E-shaped LED DRL pattern. The headlamps are joined by a slender chrome strip located directly above the grille. The front bumper design is similar to that of Range Rovers, with a horizontally positioned air dam.

The tailgate is upright and has an integrated spoiler and a high-mounted stop lamp. The new Patrol has vertically positioned taillamps coupled to a horizontal LED light strip and a thick blacked-out trim with ‘Patrol’ writing on it. The rear windshield similarly has a wrap-around

look, and the bumper has faux aluminum elements.

Nissan Patrol: Interior and Features

Nissan Patrol- Interior

The interior of the new Patrol is a mix of soft-touch materials, simulated brushed aluminum trim, and a variety of upholstery options, depending on the variation. The large three-row cabin features two 14.3-inch monitors, one for instrumentation and the other for infotainment. The traditional gear selector has been removed and replaced by dedicated buttons located on the center console beneath the HVAC panel. A rotary selector for terrain modes is located next to the HVAC controls, which are neatly divided into various zones and may be operated by large toggle switches.

The audio system in top variations is a 12-speaker Klipsch premium sound system. The SUV includes two 12.8-inch screens for back passengers to stream material and play games from their devices via HDMI or USB connector. Additional features include a wireless charging pad, USB-C connections in all rows, a head-up display, infotainment gesture control, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, a powered tailgate, and 8-way power-adjustable front seats, among others.

Nissan Patrol: Powertrain

Nissan Patrol- Powertrain

A 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine with full-time four-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission powers the 2019 Nissan Patrol. This engine produces 425 horsepower, 25 more than the previous-generation SUV’s 5.6-litre V8 and more than 100 horsepower over the LC300’s diesel. However, both the Nissan and Toyota engines generate 700Nm of torque.

Nissan Patrol: The India angle

Nissan was testing the previous-generation Patrol for an India launch. The business also held several consumer clinics for the SUV before deciding against it. If Nissan decides to introduce the new Patrol in India, it might be a serious challenger to the popular Land Cruiser 300.
