Mercedes-Benz India plans to debut three new EVs in the nation this year. The first of these launches, the EQA, will be unveiled on July 8.
Mercedes EQA: Exterior, Interior, highlights
The EQA on its way to India is the facelifted SUV that was introduced in August of last year. The EQA, with its relatively slim (compared to the more upright EQB seven-seat e-SUV) crossover-like appearance, has a grille panel with Mercedes’ distinctive star pattern and a full-width light bar at the front. At the back, the EQA has several design aspects with the EQB.
The electric SUV’s interior features a star design on the dashboard and door trim pieces, which are backlit to relate it to the S-Class and EQS. The cabin of the India-spec model is expected to include a touch-capacitive three-spoke steering wheel, a digital driver display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen running the most recent operating system, and a Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos – occupants can select from four sound experiences’, including silver waves’ and ‘vivid flux’, which change the tone and acoustics of songs. It’s unclear whether the India-spec model will include the optional open-pore wood trim.
Mercedes EQA: range, powertrain details
While Mercedes is yet to announce the battery details or technical specs for the India-spec EQA, the SUV is available in four models in international markets: EQA 250, EQA 250+, EQA 300 4Matic, and EQA 350 4Matic. Aside from the 250+ variant, which receives a 70.5kWh battery with up to 560km of range, the EQA gets a 66.5kWh battery pack with a maximum range of 528km .
Mercedes EQA: Price Estimate, Rivals
Prices for the EQA are expected to be marginally lower than the EQB, which is currently priced at Rs 77.75 lakh. Mercedes’ entry-level e-SUV will compete with the Volvo XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge (Rs 54.95 lakhโ62.95 lakh) and the BMW iX1 (Rs 66.90 lakh). However, Kia’s EV6 (Rs 60.97 lakh-65.97 lakh) could be considered a contender.
