Suzuki has launched the all-new Dzire Hybrid in the Philippines, and shoppers in India are wondering when exactly it will make its introduction. For this island nation, the Dzire will get a stronger and more fuel-efficient twist on its compact sedan concept. The Indian version of the Dzire will still use the traditional petrol engine.

The major difference lies here: the Philippine version of the Dzire will introduce a hybrid engine with a CVT gearbox. This sets off the questioning of whether India is slated to be next in line for the hybrid Dzire.

The exterior design of the Dzire Hybrid is very much the same as that of the Indian Dzire. It gets familiar features like LED headlamps, LED taillights, and stylish dual-tone alloy wheels. Overall, it holds the same sleek and compact shape that has made the Dzire a bestseller.

Inside, the Dzire Hybrid gets a two-tone cabin, with major upgrades including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system fitted with a 3-spoke steering wheel and a conventional instrument cluster. Apart from cruise control, there is automatic climate control and rear AC vents. However, there is no sunroof, which a few lucky buyers may look forward to in future variants.

Powertrain

Under the hood lies the new Z12E 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder engine from Suzuki, which drives a mild-hybrid 12V system. The entire package includes a compact 0.072 kWh battery, as well as a 2.93 BHP electric motor that, when coupled, contributes to the overall output of 80 BHP and 112 Nm of torque. The engine works in tandem with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

The electric motor here is small and only assists in boosting torque to allegedly maximize fuel economy, but the company has left the official fuel numbers of the hybrid version without a press note.

Variants & Pricing

In the Philippines, the Dzire Hybrid is available in two variants: GL and GLX  from PHP 920,000 (about ₹13.9 lakh). Therefore, the Dzire Hybrid is indeed a premium offering over the normal petrol-powered Dzire sold in India.
