In India, Lotus has introduced the Lotus Emeya, its second electric vehicle. The base Standard model starts at Rs 2.34 crore (est $2,70,200) ex-showroom. The Emeya lies beneath the Eletre SUV, a component of the Geely-owned company’s strategy to switch to all-electric cars by 2028. Lotus has not yet disclosed the prices of the S and R models.
Lotus Emeya: Exterior
The electric GT measures 5,139 mm in length and 2,005 mm in width, with a wheelbase of 3,069 mm. Its height falls between 1,459 and 1,467 mm. As a result, the Emeya is more significant than its closest competitor, the Porsche Taycan.
The front aspect lacks the large bonnet found on GT cars with combustion engines. Instead, a high-deck tail joins with a brief front segment. Four LED daytime running lights, two on each side, are positioned above the headlights, which are located in the bumper. Additionally, the bumper vents are equipped with active-aero technology, which allows them to change their aperture for cooling and airflow.
The brand’s racing heritage is responsible for the carbon fiber components, 20 (standard)-22 inch aluminum well, and wheel arches on the side frame. Additionally, flush-type door handles contribute to aerodynamic efficiency. It has a horizontal light bar and a sloping roofline that blends with the rear spoiler, which is even more significant than the Eletre SUV’s, and opens in three phases. With the stock wheels, the claimed drag coefficient is 0.21.
Lotus Emeya: Interior
The Emeya’s dashboard is based on the Eletre, but the use of various lighting and materials sets it apart. Alcantara and leather are used extensively, as well as knurled metal on all touchpoints. Buyers will also have the option of using vegan upholstery. The seats have five massage modes, a 55-inch HUD, and a KEF audio system featuring Uni-Q speakers, a Uni-Core subwoofer, and Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound.

The 8-inch driver’s display is located behind the octagonal steering wheel. The 15.1-inch center touchscreen houses a variety of features, including the ability to change the direction of the AC vents. At the same time, the co-passenger receives a tiny screen above the glove box. The Emeya also features an electrochromic glass roof that can change from opaque to translucent. As an EV, the performance car has a 31-litre trunk and a 509-litre boot. It also has a 360-degree camera and a Level 4-capable Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite when rules allow.
Lotus Emeya: Performance
Dual motors for AWD are standard on all three Emeya models: regular, S, and R. The front and rear motors on the Standard and S produce 600hp and 710Nm, respectively. The sprint time from 0 to 100 kmph is 4.2 seconds, and the top speed is 250kph. The Emeya R is the most powerful model, with 905hp and 985Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 2.8 seconds and tops at 256 kph.
All three include a 102kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an 800V design. A 350kW DC fast charger can charge the battery from 10-80% in 18 minutes. Charging with a 22kWh AC wall charger takes 5.5 hours. The basic model has a WLTP range of 610km, the S has 540km, and the R has 435km; these figures only apply when the car is equipped with the default 20-inch wheels.
