Starting at Rs. 7.62 lakh ($ 8,954.99 estimated), Honda has launched the new Amaze compact sedan in India. The top-spec ZX trim level costs Rs. 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The third-generation Amaze arrived right after the fourth-generation Maruti Dzire was introduced.
The new Amaze has a completely new design incorporating the family aesthetic found in the City and Elevate. It also has new interiors with a ton of more features. But mechanically, it is identical to its predecessor. Official deliveries of the new Amaze will start next month, with test drives starting today. As standard, Honda offers a 3-year/unlimited-kilometer warranty on the Amaze.
What Do We Know So Far?
The new Amaze’s front fascia resembles the Elevate SUV’s smaller, more rugged incarnation. Although narrower and sharper than the SUV’s, the Amaze also has a hexagonal grille.

The rear side of the new Amaze resembles that of a junior City, with the tail lamps on either side of the number plate housing having a similar form. With reflectors placed at either edge, the rear bumper seems sleek. By embracing this family-oriented style, the new Amaze appears more sophisticated than the previous sedan. The new Amaze offers six exterior paint colors: Obsidian Blue Pearl, Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, and Lunar Silver Metallic.
Features & Specs
The Elevate influences the dashboard design. It has a smaller 8-inch free-standing touchscreen, but it borrows the Elevate’s multi-function steering wheel, HVAC controls, and semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch MID. With two cup holders, USB ports, and a wireless charging rack, the center console layout is the same as the Elevate. In terms of features, the new Amaze has three-point seat belts for every passenger, a back seat armrest, rear air conditioning vents, auto climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, push-button start/stop, LED projector headlights and fog lamps. The Honda Sensing ADAS suite, traction control, lane watch camera, hill start aid, ESC, and six airbags as standard are among the safety features. According to Honda, the Amaze is India’s most reasonably priced vehicle with an ADAS suite. Crucially, though, it is devoid of a sunroof.
Honda claims the cabin space is better because the new Amaze is taller and wider than its predecessor. It can accommodate 416 liters in its boot. According to Honda, the AC’s performance has been greatly enhanced for superior cabin cooling.
Engine & Powertrain
The 1.2-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine that powers the new Amaze is still mated to either a CVT automatic transmission with paddle shifters or a 5-speed manual gearbox. With 90 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque, the engine is marginally more powerful than the Dzire, but the torque is slightly less. Honda claims an economy of 18.65 kpl for the manual version, while the CVT automatic version achieves 19.46 kpl.
