The seventh-generation BMW M5 has been introduced in India, with a starting price of ₹1.99 crore for the performance sedan. This is the most powerful model of the M5, and the latest iteration of BMW’s famous performance sedan features new looks and a plug-in hybrid drivetrain for the first time.
BMW M5: Exterior
The M5’s wide wheel arches and sculpted bumpers give it a far more aggressive appearance than the standard 5-Series. Additionally, the M5 has a much sharper stance and a shorter wheelbase than the standard sedan, which is available in India in a long-wheelbase configuration.
The grille’s front is surrounded in gloss black and features the “M5” emblem in the middle. More gloss black trim surrounds the front bumper’s sharply chiseled design, which features larger air inlets at the edges and a more visible central air dam. Along with more prominent sills and reworked front and rear wheel arches, the M5 also has an embossed M5 symbol on the rear quarter glass region.
It has a two-section diffuser and a rear spoiler at the back, and the gloss-black-finished quad exhausts protrude from underneath. The car’s width is further highlighted by the vertical reflectors placed at the outer borders of the rear bumper.
BMW M5: Interior
On the interior, though, not much has changed. However, it comes with M-specific ambient lighting, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and M-spec seats that display the M5 badge. Additionally, the center console has some updated switchgear to better meet the needs of the performance sedan, including a redesigned gear lever and a few extra buttons.

BMW M5: Powertrain
The powertrain is the beating heart of any BMW M vehicle, and the new M5 is no exception. The M5 has a 4.4-liter V8 engine under the hood that is connected to a hybrid system that includes an electric motor and an 18.6 kWh battery pack.
The V8 produces a powerful 577 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque on its own. When paired with the hybrid system, however, the numbers soar to an incredible 717 horsepower and 1,000 Nm. This hybrid vehicle can travel 69 kilometers on electricity alone, making it a unique performance vehicle that can handle quick city commutes without emitting any pollution. Through the use of an eight-speed automatic transmission, power is sent to all four wheels.
The M5 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.5 seconds thanks to this tremendous power. With the optional M Driver’s Package, its electronically regulated top speed of 250 kmph can be increased to 305 kmph. A variety of driver-focused features, such as adaptive M suspension, M xDrive all-wheel drive, and Integral Active Steering for improved control and precision, enhance its raw performance.
