Nissan, Honda, and Mitsubishi's Partnership

The two Japanese car giants: Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. and Honda Motor Co. Ltd.- have sealed an MoU to form a business partnership with Mitsubishi Motors and planned to join the partnership as early as January next year, 2025. This joint venture will be in the form of a merged holding company if the two become the third largest automobile manufacturer in the future.

The Goals Behind the Nissan-Honda-Mitsubishi Partnership

This cooperation is expected to unite the resources, activities and technologies in supporting concepts such as carbon neutrality, electrification and intelligence of vehicles. This schedule for this venture has already started, though the final deal regarding the holding company is planned to be signed by June 2025, and the whole process is expected by August 2026.

Some of the goals for this synergy are as follows; โ€“ common ICE, hybrid and EV architecture โ€“ improving efficiency and lowering the cost of production โ€“ New financial services โ€“ talent acquisition.

However, Nissan, Honda & Mitsubishi will remain distinct companies, as will Stellantis, although they all form part of this newly formed partnership. This partnership is one of the key steps to future mobility, but important questions emerge about this Nissan-Renault alliance itself and what it means for the existing alliance. No specifics have been shared as yet, but huge prospects are on the cards for the Nissan-Honda-Mitsubishi joint holding company in the mobility space.

India, where Mitsubishi no longer sells cars, could see combined models from Nissan and Honda, both giants in the country. This partnership could also set the basis for Mitsubishiโ€™s return to India in the future once again for the manufacture of automobiles.
