Mahindra & Mahindraโs much-awaited Born Electric SUVs, the XEV 9e and BE 6e, have marked a significant stride into the EV age. They are built on Mahindraโs INGLO platform, a modular skateboard architecture explicitly created for electric cars. The BE 6e Pack One costs Rs 18.90 lakh ex-showroom, while the XEV 9e Pack One costs Rs 21.90 ex-showroom.
XEV 9e and BE 6e: Exterior
The XEV 9e features a sloping roofline, strong cuts, and a sleek, aerodynamic coupe-SUV appearance. It has a futuristic appearance due to a full-width LED light bar, flared wheel arches, and a solid triangular headlight arrangement. The XEV 9e, which is 4,789 mm long, has a boot capacity of 663 liters and a front trunk capacity of 150 liters.
The BE 6e tends to have a more sculptural appearance. Its aggressive and contemporary design language is due to its strong outlines, integrated inverted L-shaped DRLs, and simple front end. It is 4,371 mm long and has a 45-liter front trunk and 455-liter boot space.
XEV 9e and BE 6e: Features
The XEV 9e has a 43-inch triple-screen arrangement for the driver, center infotainment, and passengers. It also has a theater mode that synchronizes all screens and allows the backseat passengers to utilize their devices. The BE 6e has two floating screens, each measuring 12.3 inches. ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and a two-spoke lighted steering wheel are features found in both variants.

Among its unique features are Mahindraโs Auto-Adjusting HUD Vision, ambient lighting with 16 million color possibilities, and an illuminated infinity roof that changes color in response to vehicle speed.
In addition, Mahindra has built-in technologies like AutoPark, which operates both inside and outside the vehicle, Driver-Initiated Lane Change Assist (DILCA), and three drive modes: Range, everyday, and Race.
XEV 9e and BE 6e: Powertrain
Both SUVs offer two battery options, 59 kWh and 79 kWh, using LFP chemistry. As per the company, the larger battery pack promises a real-world range of more than 500 km. These EVs support ultra-fast charging, going from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a 175 kW DC charger.
Built on the INGLO platform, the XEV 9e has 59kWh and 79kWh LFP battery options. Its claimed range is 656km (MIDC) or 533km (WLTP), while real-world tests show it can travel over 500km. With a bigger battery, the power plant produces 286 horsepower and 380 Nm, reaching 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds. The 59kWh version makes 231 horsepower.
Mahindra will commence deliveries for the BE 6e from late February or early March 2025.
