Toyota is scheduled to reveal a new electric coupe SUV on March 11; this vehicle is anticipated to be the production version of the 2022 bZ Compact SUV concept. In addition to the larger bZ4X and the newly unveiled Urban Cruiser EV, this will be Toyota’s third electric model available in international markets. As part of its EV strategy, Toyota intends to launch six new electric cars in foreign markets by 2026.
Electric coupe SUV: Design and Exterior
Several important design features from the original concept are still in the upcoming electric SUV. It has a coupe-like shape thanks to its raked top, long hood, and full-width rear light bar. At the front, Toyota’s newest “hammerhead” design language is clear, which fits in with the brand’s growing line of electric cars.
It looks like the bZ3C fastback, which was only shown in China at last year’s Beijing Motor Show. However, some design differences, like the shape of the rear lights, make it look like this might be a European version instead of a straight rebadge.

Electric coupe SUV: Interior and Features
Toyota hasn’t shown off the inside of the new EV yet, but it’s expected to look more like the Toyota C-HR than the Urban Cruiser EV. This points to a 12.3-inch touchscreen entertainment system, a digital cluster of instruments, and a center panel that is higher up. More expensive options might have a panoramic sunroof, JBL premium sound, and other high-end features.
Battery, Range, and Performance Options
Toyota will likely offer a range of battery sizes and drivetrain combinations, like the Urban Cruiser EV. Using current Toyota EV models as a guide, the teaser confirms an all-wheel-drive version that could have two motors producing about 184hp and 300Nm of torque, along with a 61kWh battery for an estimated 400km of range. Lower models could have a 49kWh battery and a single 144hp motor placed on the front. Additionally, fast charging with up to 150kW is anticipated.
India Launch Plans
We still don’t know if this new electric SUV will reach India. In the meantime, Toyota is preparing to release the Urban Cruiser EV in India later this year. Information about prices will be available in the coming months.
