The Toyota Camry is one of the best-selling hybrid cars in the world, with over 18 million units sold globally since its launch. But the 2025 model could be a game changer. Having found a footing in the Indian automotive market, a new Camry is here with some more than skin-deep upgrades: next-gen technology, enhanced performance, and a new green Toyota Camry hybrid focus that is fast catching on with the wake of buyers are suddenly developing. Here, we look at how the new 2025 Camry differs from its previous versions and why it makes a strong bid for the Indian luxury sedan market.

Toyota Camry 2025 Design & Exterior

Toyota Camry Exterior

The previous model’s TNGA-K architecture and suspension system are still used in this next-generation vehicle, although Toyota says it is superior in every aspect. The entire idea feels very different from a design perspective. This is consistent with the brand’s new “Hammerhead” appearance, which uses sleek, freshly designed LED headlights and Daytime Running Lamps to help define the sedan’s front end.

Many have sharper edges, more contrast, and a steeper incline than previously. The Toyota logo is now located beneath the opening point on the nameplate, and it is no longer as blue as it was. The diamond-shaped front bumper and the air dam’s aerodynamic, clean appearance are similar to most Lexus cars.

A bold shoulder line extends from the bonnet to the boot lid, and the new 18-inch machine-finished alloys in a star pattern provide the vehicle’s towering stance. Additionally, new C-shaped LED tail lights are included with the boot. The new Camry’s design is much more muscular and dynamic than the old model.

The new Camry’s interior design, which features a tan and grey dual-tone theme with silver accents, gives it a more upscale and lively feel than the previous black and light beige layout. The dash and steering wheel have been updated, with a sleek piano black finish on the dash that is both fashionable and dust-and-finger-prone.

The climate control buttons have been repositioned behind the central air conditioning vents, and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen has been added to the center console. Tech-savvy customers will appreciate the practicality of the two USB-C connections and wireless charging pads placed directly in front of the gear knob.

The Camry is known for its comfort, and the front seats are still very supportive. The ventilation feature adds even more comfort on hot days, and the 10-way power adjustment guarantees the perfect driving posture. The Camry has plenty of headroom, legroom, and shoulder room for backseat passengers. It also has powered reclining seats, which are uncommon in this price category. A three-zone climate control system that can be controlled via a screen in the back armrest is another advantage of the rear seat. However, the back seat is best suited for two passengers because of the space-consuming center armrest and extra features like USB connections and AC vents.

Features

Toyota Camry Features

The new Camry has several technological and comfort-enhancing features. One noteworthy feature is the “boss mode,” which allows the driver to adjust the front passenger seat and provides a minor convenience for those in the driver’s seat. The car features a nine-speaker JBL sound system that produces an immersive music experience and a single-pane sunroof instead of a panoramic one, which adds to the sense of openness.

Furthermore, Toyota has incorporated a connected car suite that can be accessed via the Toyota app and includes functions like seat ventilation control, remote start, and boot opening and closing. With a sleeker layout and better clarity, the upgraded infotainment system significantly improved over the old 9-inch model. The screen’s resolution is so high that, in contrast, the 360-degree camera image seems a little fuzzy. While Android Auto stays wired, the system supports wireless Apple CarPlay.

This includes Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 ADAS suite, which significantly advances safety technology. This system includes functions including automatic high beams, adaptive and regular cruise control, lane-keep assist, road-sign recognition, and forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection. The lane-keep assist functioned flawlessly to keep the Camry in its lane on highways with distinct lane lines. Additionally, the autonomous braking system provided prompt warnings before using the brakes. The 2018 Camry’s safety features, which include nine airbags, rear parking sensors, and recently added front parking sensors, continue to emphasize protection.

Toyota Camry 2025 performance

In addition to producing more power, the new Camry’s improved hybrid drivetrain uses less fuel than the previous model. At 6,000 rpm, the 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine now produces 187 horsepower, a 9-hp increase, while the torque stays at 221 Nm. The total system output is 230 horsepower, a 12 horsepower increase over the previous generation when paired with a 136 horsepower, 208 Nm electric motor. Toyota’s stated 0-100 kph time of 6.7 seconds for this class is reasonable.

The Camry is best suited for a more relaxed driving style, where the smooth transition between the electric motor and gasoline engine shines. Even on the highway, the new Camry runs on battery power for extended periods and switches to it more frequently when operated in Eco mode. Despite the extra power, the difference isn’t immediately noticeable in daily driving.

There are three driving modes: Eco, which puts battery life first; Normal, which starts the engine earlier; and Sport, which provides marginally stronger performance at the expense of efficiency. The rubber band feeling is still noticeable when driving the car hard, even though the 10-step e CVT simulates gears to give the driver more control. Though the engine may sound buzzy at higher revs, Toyota has enhanced sound-deadening, which results in good refinement overall.

The Camry achieved nearly 20 kpl on the test drive, which involved more highway than urban driving, which is remarkable for a 1.6-ton vehicle. Fuel efficiency is heavily influenced by driving style.

Toyota Camry 2025 ride and handling

Toyota Camry Handling

Like its predecessor, the new Camry’s supple ride quality is one of its best qualities, and it’s still remarkable even with the low-profile 235/45 R18 tires. With an unladen ground clearance of 145mm, Toyota says it can easily handle big speed breakers without causing any damage to the undercarriage. Only extremely rough surfaces enter the cabin of the Camry, which quickly absorbs road undulations whether traveling at slower speeds or higher speeds.

Body roll is better managed than the previous model, and the strong chassis and reasonable feel of some steering provide confidence on twisty roads. The Camry’s 11.4-meter turning circle isn’t too big for its length of over 4.9 meters, making it almost as easy to maneuver in confined situations as it is on a wide road.
