At the ongoing Seoul Mobility Show in Korea, Hyundai has unveiled its next-gen Nexo FCEV (fuel cell electric vehicle). Styled after the Initium concept was revealed last October, the new Nexo isn’t like its predecessor. In line with Hyundai’s ‘Art of Steel’ design philosophy, the SUV loses curves for angular, concept-like, bold, yet futuristic lines.
Hyundai Nexo FCEV: Exterior
The Hyundai Nexo FCEV now manifests such angularity, threatening ruggedness to its overall stance. The frontal fascia holds an ‘HTWO’ LED headlamp arrangement comprising four dot-style projectors, giving the car a tech-forward identity. It has strong horizontal lines throughout the design, promoting a more upstanding look. Contrasting black flares at the rear fender and squared-off outlines of the window amplify the rigid characteristics of the SUV, along with a thick C-pillar that divides the side glass, reinforcing the overall modern look.

Hyundai Nexo FCEV: Interior
In addition to that future-oriented theme, the interior continues the wide, digital layout. An integrated 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is combined with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. There is also a 12-inch head-up display to realize the digital experience and a 14-speaker Bang and Olufsen audio system, which gives high-end acoustics. Other premium touches include a column-mounted gear shifter, sleek touch-based climate controls, a wireless phone charger, and a digital rear-view mirror- the whole works in terms of luxury and convenience.
Powertrain
Under its sharp and jagged styling, the Hyundai Nexo FCEV gets a 2.64-kilowatt-hour battery and a 147-horsepower hydrogen fuel cell stack. An electric motor of 201 horsepower now works with the configuration, allowing the SUV to reach a speed of up to 100 km/h in only 7.8 sec. The system uses hydrogen stored in a tank hosting 6.69 kg. At the same time, the entire technology is engineered to result in a range exceeding 700 km, putting it right among the most attractive options in the growing zero-emission mobility world.
