Honda is considering introducing the Honda ZR-V SUV to the very competitive Indian market. Honda has been finding it difficult to cling to market share with only three models. Although a specific date is unclear, Honda plans to deliver the ZR-V here by the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
Honda ZR-V: Likely to Come to India?
Honda will likely import the ZR-V to India, as it did with the CR-V and the Accord Hybrid. Increased duties would result in raising the selling price. Honda conducted CKD processes in India at its Greater Noida plant for a few models.
The ZR-V debuted globally in 2022 and is available for purchase in Japan and other ASEAN countries. It shares many similarities with the HR-V SUV that is offered for sale in North America.
Honda ZR-V: Exterior and Interior
The ZR-V has an octagonal grille with several vertical slats stacked on top of horizontal ones. In specific markets, the vertical slats are treated with chrome, whereas in others, they are gloss-black. A broad air dam with a gloss-black finish sits beneath the tall bumper, with delicate cutouts on each corner that blend perfectly with the chin.

The SUV features a wide glasshouse with an upward curve aft of the back door. Its sides are rounded with few creases. Tall and stylishly tapered in the back, the roofline blends well with the tailgate’s curved glass.
It has a sleek dashboard with integrated air conditioning vents, physical climate control buttons, a free-standing touchscreen, and a digital instrument cluster. Like the CR-V, the ZR-V features a button-operated gear shift panel rather than the traditional shift lever found on the North American HR-V.
Honda ZR-V: Powertrain
The ZR-V marketed in Japan and other ASEAN regions has an AWD petrol-hybrid configuration with a 2.0-litre petrol engine, an electronic CVT gearbox, and two electric motors, providing a combined power output of around 180hp, which varies by market. This is the version that will likely make its way to India. Honda also provides a pure-petrol powertrain with a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine connected to a CVT transmission with AWD.
