Genesis X Gran Coupe

At the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, Genesis unveiled the concepts for the X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible. The two-door models, based on the G90 luxury sedan, take storytelling to the brand’s next chapter in luxury and design, offering a strong suggestion as to how future production models might be designed.

Genesis X Gran Coupe and Convertible: Design

The two new concepts, Genesis X Gran Coupe and Convertible, are based on the same platform as the G90, although they come with an extreme two-door configuration. Both front and rear are equipped with the signature Two Lines lighting that has distinguished the brand in the visual world. The proportions are long and slender and almost follow the silhouette of a grand touring.

Frameless doors with flush handles add a sophisticated edge, verging on something ready to be very production-friendly. According to Genesis design chief Luc Donckerwolke, these models were really realistic descendants of the G90, developed to augment the model range with niche high-luxury offerings.

Genesis X Gran Coupe and Convertible: Interior

Genesis X Gran Coupe Interior

What lies inside is a representation of Genesis’s spotlight on craftsmanship and detail. Crystal embellishments adorn the steering wheel, center console, and air vents in the Genesis X Gran Coupe and Convertible. The microperforated olive wood surfaces enhance the sense of refinement, as do the aluminium-spoked steering wheel designs.

Screens are incorporated into the front headrests for rear-seat passengers. The convertible model features a soft top finished in a sumptuous grape-toned color outside and inside, making the whole package exclusive and emphasizing depth in design.

Powertrain

Surprisingly, contrary to earlier speculation, both concept vehicles actually come with a turbocharged 3.5-litre petrol V6 with mild-hybrid support, belonging to G90. That’s a combined 415 horsepower at 5,800 rpm. While there are no performance details from Genesis, the current platform should allow relatively easy adaptation for any future production.

Genesis Launch Plans in India

Hyundai continues to look at a possible launch of the Genesis brand in India. The most likely contender is the GV80, which has been patented for design in the country, and is expected to be the model that spearheads the entry into the Indian market. If launched, the GV80 would directly face competitors such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, and Audi Q7 in the premium SUV segment. For more details, visit https://newsroom.genesis.com/
